The Hubble Constant and Dark Energy from Cosmological Distance Measures

چکیده
We study how the determination of the Hubble constant from cosmological distance measures is affected by models of dark energy and vice versa. For this purpose, constraints on the Hubble constant and dark energy are investigated using the cosmological observations of cosmic microwave background, baryon acoustic oscillations and type Ia suprenovae. When one investigates dark energy, the Hubble constant is often a nuisance parameter, thus it is usually marginalized over. On the other hand, when one focuses on the Hubble constant, simple dark energy models such as a cosmological constant and a constant equation of state are usually assumed. Since we do not know the nature of dark energy yet, it is interesting to investigate the Hubble constant assuming some types of dark energy and see to what extent the constraint on the Hubble constant is affected by the assumption concerning dark energy. We show that the constraint on the Hubble constant is not affected much by the assumption for dark energy. We furthermore show that this holds true even if we remove the assumption that the universe is flat. We also discuss how the prior on the Hubble constant affects the constraints on dark energy and/or the curvature of the universe. ar X iv :0 71 0. 39 95 v2 [ as tr oph ] 3 M ay 2 00 8

Reconstructing Cosmological Matter Perturbations using Standard Candles and Rulers
For a large class of dark energy (DE) models, for which the effective gravitational constant is a constant and there is no direct exchange of energy between DE and dark matter (DM), knowledge of the expansion history suffices to reconstruct the growth factor of linearized density perturbations in the non-relativistic matter component on scales much smaller than the Hubble distance. In this pape...
متن کاملMass Determination of Groups of Galaxies: Effects of the Cosmological Constant
The spherical infall model first developed by Lemâitre and Tolman was modified in order to include the effects of a dark energy term. The resulting velocity-distance relation was evaluated numerically. This equation, when fitted to actual data, permits the simultaneous evaluation of the central mass and of the Hubble parameter. Application of this relation to the Local Group, when the dark ener...
متن کاملDynamics of Nearby Groups of Galaxies: the role of the cosmological constant
Different cosmological data are consistent with an accelerated expansion produced by an exotic matter-energy component, dubbed “dark-energy”. A cosmological constant is a possibility since it satisfies most of the observational constraints. In this work, the consequences of such a component in the dynamics of groups of galaxies is investigated, aiming to detect possible effects in scales of the ...
متن کاملGalaxy Cluster Gas Mass Fraction and Hubble Parameter versus Redshift Constraints on Dark Energy
Galaxy cluster gas mass fraction versus redshift data (Allen et al. 2004) and Hubble parameter versus redshift data (Simon et al. 2005) are used to jointly constrain dark energy models. These constraints favor the Einstein cosmological constant limit of dark energy but do not strongly rule out slowly-evolving dark energy. متن کاملA Cosmology-independent Calibration of Gamma-ray Burst Luminosity Relations and the Hubble Diagram
An important concern in the application of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) to cosmology is that the calibration of GRB luminosity/energy relations depends on the cosmological model, due to the lack of a sufficient lowredshift GRB sample. In this paper, we present a new method to calibrate GRB relations in a cosmologyindependent way. Since objects at the same redshift should have the same luminosity dis...
